Priority areas of Turkmenistan's cooperation with the UNECE were discussed


On May 2, the Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan Serdar Jorayev held a meeting with the Deputy Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Dmitry Maryasin, who arrived in Ashgabat.
The parties considered priority areas for further cooperation, including in the field of digitalization of the economy, preparation of the second voluntary national review of Turkmenistan on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, etc.
Special attention was paid to the issues of holding a ministerial meeting of the UN Special Program for the Countries of Central Asia, Afghanistan and Azerbaijan (SPECA), supported by the UNECE and the UN Economic Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).
In particular, the interlocutors discussed the creation of the SPECA Fund and the corresponding support from Ashgabat on this issue. The issue of holding the next SPECA ministerial meeting in Turkmenistan was also raised.
The meeting also discussed the preparation of the second voluntary national review of Turkmenistan on the SDGs, which will be presented at the UN High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development in June 2023.
Also, within the framework of the above-mentioned high-level meeting, it was proposed to hold an additional event dedicated to the city of Arkadag, the concept of which is based on the integration of smart systems with environmentally friendly technologies, including in the field of public transport, the city fleet of which will consist of electric buses and electric vehicles.
