Turkmenistan discussed steps to strengthen the system of child care and family protection

Further steps to strengthen the system of child care and family protection in Turkmenistan were discussed during a round table held by UNICEF in cooperation with the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.

A protected, supportive family environment is the best environment for every child and the basis for his or her physical, moral and intellectual development, as well as the preservation and strengthening of physical and mental health.
To achieve this, every State in the world must invest in a social child protection system that can identify families and children in need of support and provide them with social services that meet their specific needs.
The Government of Turkmenistan and UNICEF are working together to strengthen the system of protection of children and families in the country.
The meeting was attended by representatives of law enforcement agencies, ministries and departments of the social sector, finance, the State Statistics Committee, as well as local authorities of Ashgabat represented by guardianship, guardianship and commissions for minors.
