Increased investment for the development of the Galkynysh field promises great prospects - Stephen Wright

The “Galkynysh” field is a unique pantry of world gas reserves. If the depth of the layers is conditionally compared with the Burj Khalifa skyscraper, then this is almost 70% of the height of the building - 580-600 meters. And the volume of resources is 84 trillion cubic meters, Stephen Wright, technical director of GaffneyCline, began his speech at the International Investment Forum in Dubai (UAE).
"Galkynysh" is a huge deposit of the Upper Jurassic period and is divided into 2 groups: Bagyshlinskaya and Koytendagskaya. Although similar, these areas are different - this was shown by 3D and 2D seismic surveys that were carried out on test wells to determine accurate data. And they testify that the pilot production sites are saturated with large volumes of gas.
Studies aimed at studying the ratio of water and gas made it possible to predict the average pressure in the reservoirs. This indicates pressure depletion at 10, 25 and 50 years. Even if, at first glance, the drop looks huge, the immediate pressure drop in the reservoir itself is not that great. And even after half a century, it will be possible to say that only 45% of the gas was extracted during this period of time, and this is an indicator after seven phases of the development of the field, Stephen Wright noted.
Today, the first phase of development is being implemented at the Galkynysh field. Another 6 phases have been identified, which in total will provide about 8 trillion cubic meters of gas. However, even after the full implementation of the development plan - the implementation of the seven stages of production, the Galkynysh deposits will have a huge potential for further production. Therefore, it really makes sense to increase investments for the development of this field, the director of GaffneyCline concluded.
