The joint Turkmen-American project for the restoration and preservation of rare and valuable books is resumed by scientists of the two countries. Rare editions and artifacts are stored at the Turkmen National Institute of Manuscripts, specialists of which together with experts from the US Library of Congress, will take part in their restoration.

The American delegation to Turkmenistan includes Head of Book Conservation Department Yasmine Khan, Senior Specialist of Book Conservation Department Tamara Ohanian and Director General of Merrion&Smith William Bradford Smith.

Scientists will hold a series of seminars in Ashgabat, as well as trainings to exchange experience with Turkmen specialists.

The first lecture for students of the Faculty of Library Science of the Institute of Culture will be held on April 26 at 14:00.

The project for the conservation of rare books stored in Turkmenistan was launched with the support of the Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP), which was established by the US Department of State.
