The main evaluation criterion was the average number of occurrences of the "Check Engine" indicator (engine check required) on the dashboard over the past five years. Mitsubishi leads this metric with an average check engine light exposure of 0.66%.
In second place are the cars of the German brand Mercedes-Benz, and in third place is Volkswagen. The leaderboard also included Buick, Ford, Mazda, BMW, GMC, Subaru and Cadillac.
CarMD names Toyota Tacoma, Honda CR-V, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Hyundai Santa Fe, Ford Explorer and Nissan Qashqai among the most reliable models in terms of engine.
