The Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and Israel Rashid Meredov and Eli Cohen inaugurated the Israeli Embassy in Ashgabat on Thursday.


The ceremony was also attended by representatives of foreign diplomatic missions and the media.
The foreign ministers of Turkmenistan and Israel cut the symbolic ribbon and addressed the audience.
"With the opening of our permanent office, we are striving for a new era of our close relationship," said Eli Cohen. - My visit to Turkmenistan is aimed at promoting friendly ties between our countries and deepening cooperation in such areas as agriculture, water management, economy, energy, border protection, regional security, cyber technologies, education and others.

The Minister noted that 75 years of independence, the anniversary of which will be celebrated next week, Israel has come a long way from a small country with limited resources to the state it is now.
— "Dialogue is a guarantee of peace" is a leading principle in Turkmenistan's foreign policy, and, a the same time, one of the values of Israel's philosophy, – Cohen stressed.

Rashid Meredov called the opening of the Embassy of the State of Israel in Turkmenistan a historic event and told the audience about the talks held today at the Foreign Ministry with Minister Eli Cohen.
— From our side, we particularly stressed the need to increase political and diplomatic cooperation, the development of economic, intercultural, educational, scientific ties. In the near future, we will make every effort to implement these proposals," Meredov said.

Cohen arrived in Turkmenistan on Wednesday, April 19. Today he met with President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
