Turkmenistan is determined to expand bilateral relations with Israel and is considering the possibility of opening its embassy in the country.

This was stated by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov at a meeting with Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen, Israeli media reported.

The meeting discussed opportunities for expanding cooperation between the countries in the field of cyber technologies, agriculture and water management.

Cohen said that the opening of the Israeli embassy in Ashgabat, which is planned as part of his current visit, will contribute to strengthening economic and technological cooperation, as well as regional security.

On April 20, the Israeli Foreign Minister is scheduled to meet with his Turkmen counterpart Rashid Meredov, a number of other officials, as well as members of the Jewish community.
