A chess tournament among people with disabilities was held in Turkmenistan


The Avaza tour zone hosted the Chess and Checkers Championship of Turkmenistan among people with visual disabilities.
The tournament, organized by the Central Physical Culture and Sports Club of the Disabled of the country, gathered more than a hundred participants from all regions and the capital of Turkmenistan.
Azat Narbayev, a representative of the Central Physical Culture and Sports Club of the Disabled of Turkmenistan, told ORIENT that most of the rules in these intellectual games for people with disabilities are similar to the usual instructions that are characteristic of chess and checkers.
Following the results of the tournament in chess battles, Aydogdy Aydogdyyev from Ashgabat rose to the first step of the podium. Mergen Muhayev (Dashoguz region) was the silver medalist. The top three leaders were closed by the representative of the Balkan region Gurbanmuhammed Durdyyev.
Ogulgurban Garajayeva from the Balkan region was the champion in the women's category. On the second line is the representative of Dashoguz Mahym Taganova. Bronze — at Mahym Gurdova (Mary).
Checkers confrontations among men led to the championship of Charymurad Orazdurdyyev from Mary. Kuvatguly Taganov (Dashoguz) became the owner of silver. The bronze award went to another representative of the Mary region Muratgeldy Amanov.
Among women, the best result was shown by Lale Muradova from Mary, who beat Sevinch Vaisova, a representative of Dashoguz region, in the final. Aygul Muradova (Ashgabat) took third place.
The winners and prize-winners were awarded with awards and memorable gifts from the organizers of the tournament.
"Holding such events is an important part of social adaptation and rehabilitation of people with disabilities. We intend to continue organizing such competitions in the near future. So, on May 2-5, the table tennis championship among the disabled with musculoskeletal disorders will be held in Dashoguz," Azat Narbayev added.
