Turkmen swimmers won five medals on the second day of the qualifying tournament for the 2023 World Cup


Five medals — two gold, two silver and one bronze — were won by Turkmen athletes on the second day of the qualifying tournament for the World Championship, which takes place from April 18 to 22 in Tashkent.
According to ORIENT in the Turkmenistan Aquatics Federation, the gold medal in swimming at a distance of 200 meters on the back (2 minutes 12 seconds) was won by the master of sports of international class Merdan Atayev. His teammate on the national team David Akopyan won gold in the 50-meter breaststroke, covering the distance in 31.05 seconds.
Anastasia Morgenstern was awarded the silver medal in swimming at a distance of 50 meters butterfly with a result of 30.72 seconds.
The men's national team of Turkmenistan consisting of Musa Jalayev, David Akopyan, Arslan Gayypnazarov, Eminguly Ballykov showed the second result in the combined relay at a distance of 4x100 — 4 minutes 7 seconds.
In a similar program among women, Aynura Primova, Valeria Mirenskaya and Anastasia Morgenstern took the third place on the podium with an indicator of 5 minutes 9 seconds.
According to the results of the two days of the competition, the wards of Vladimir Novikov, and Mark Pilyugin have six medals — two gold, three silver and one bronze.
Earlier, the silver medal was won by Musa Jalaev in the 100-meter freestyle swimming.
The tournament in Tashkent brought together 265 swimmers (196 men and 69 women) from Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan.
