Minsk has been declared the sports capital of the CIS in 2023, and next year, 2024, this status will be transferred to the Armenian city of Gyumri. This decision was made by the heads of the foreign ministries of the Commonwealth countries at a meeting in Samarkand.

Following the meeting, a decision was also made to the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia. Patrice Lumumba to assign the status of the CIS basic organization for the training and retraining of journalistic personnel.

The CIS Games will be held in Belarus from August 5 to 13 this year. The program of the Games includes competitions in volleyball, rhythmic gymnastics, athletics, 3x3 basketball, handball, boxing, swimming and other sports.

In addition to the CIS countries, Syria, Iran, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, China, Malaysia, Lebanon, the UAE, Vietnam and Cuba confirmed their participation in the competition.
