The Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held meetings with the heads of UN organizations

During his working visit to Geneva, the Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan held meetings with the heads of a number of international organizations. A wide range of issues of Turkmenistan's strategic partnership with the Organization were discussed at a meeting with the UN Deputy Secretary General, Director General of the UN Geneva Office Tatyana Valova. Minister Rashid Meredov stressed that Turkmenistan, being a country with the status of permanent neutrality recognized by the international community, stands for consolidating efforts in strengthening peace and security. Noting concrete steps in this direction, the head of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry stressed several important international initiatives that Turkmenistan has made at the UN.

The importance of the International Conference on Disarmament in Central Asia and the Caspian Region, held several years ago in Ashgabat, was noted. The sides also discussed in detail issues related to the expansion of partnership cooperation in the information sphere, in the field of training international journalists, and agreed to take joint measures in this area, according to the information of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan also met with Deputy Secretary General, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Olga Algaerova. They analyzed the state and prospects of partnership between Turkmenistan and the UNECE, agreed on actions to intensify dialogue in such areas as sustainable energy, transport, digitalization.

At the talks with the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization, Daren Tang, Rashid Meredov informed about the practical results achieved at the national level in intellectual property issues and the work of relevant government agencies.

The parties agreed to prepare a roadmap, including such items as Turkmenistan's partnership with the WIPO Academy, consultations aimed at preparing proposals for Turkmenistan's accession to international legal acts in the field of intellectual property and their implementation in national legislation.
