The Presidents of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan discussed the prospects for further cooperation
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a telephone conversation with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Saturday.
The Uzbek leader expressed sincere condolences and words of sympathy to the President of Turkmenistan in connection with the heavy loss - the death of his grandmother, Ogulabat eje Berdimuhamedova, the press service of the President of Uzbekistan reports.
The parties positively assessed the fruitful results of the recent meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, meetings held between the foreign ministries, ministries of transport, culture and other events with the participation of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
Special attention was paid to issues of trade and economic cooperation, primarily the creation of the Shavat-Dashoguz border trade zone, the implementation of cooperation projects in priority sectors of the economy, and the continuation of active cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
During the conversation, the presidents discussed issues of further strengthening Turkmen-Uzbek relations and expanding practical cooperation in accordance with the agreements reached at the highest level.
The heads of state also discussed the schedule of upcoming events, exchanged congratulations and wishes on the upcoming Ramadan holiday.
