Spain's Valencia has become the first city in the world to introduce a 32-hour work week, Valencia Plaza reports.

The corresponding experiment, which will last a month, starting from April 10 to May 7, is designed to assess the health and well-being of citizens, the environment and the local economy, especially trade and tourism, with a four-day working week.

The pilot project involves the provision of three days off — on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

According to the mayor of the city, Joan Ribot, the project does not mean a reduction in working hours, it provides for constructive negotiations between employers and employees on this issue.

The final analysis, which will be compiled by June of this year, will demonstrate key indicators within the framework of the "axis of innovation", which provides for an optimal environment for human life of the future.
