Ashgabat to host Davis Cup competitions for Asia/Oceania Zone

Eziz Dovletov, General Secretary of the Tennis Federation of Turkmenistan, is elected to the International Working Group under the President of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) for the World Cup (Davis Cup and Fed Cup). It became known after the ITF announced the composition of its International Committees and Commissions for 2020-21 that assist the ITF and its Board of Directors across key areas of the sport. A total of over 190 representatives from over 70 nations have been invited to serve on a range of ITF Committees, Commissions and Taskforces. Committee members include representatives of the ITF Board, member nations and other individuals with specific areas of expertise. “The next few years will be important for the International Tennis Federation as we strive to increase our tennis participation in this sport. Committees will play a critical role in providing the resources needed to meet the challenges that lie ahead,” ITF President David Haggerty said. Election of the representative of Turkmenistan as a Committee member to the International Tennis Federation would assist to hold a high-level competition for the Davis Cup (Zone Asia/Oceania, Group IV), which are scheduled for next year in Ashgabat. The largest Men Team Tennis Competitions will be held on June 8 - 14, 2020 in the Olympic village of the Turkmen capital, the infrastructure of which is fully meets international standards to hold world-class competitions. According to representatives of the Tennis Federation of Turkmenistan, the tournament in Ashgabat will gather athletes from 17 countries.
