US President Joe Biden has signed a law that cancels the state of emergency in the country caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. This is reported in a statement published on the White House website.

The emergency regime has been in effect in the country since March 1, 2020 and has been extended many times. The legal basis for various restrictive measures expired on April 11.

The White House had previously planned to extend it further, but lawmakers approved a bill on the immediate termination of the emergency regime, which Biden signed.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus expressed confidence that this year the pandemic caused by coronavirus infection will end, and the international emergency regime introduced because of it will be canceled.
