Turkmen athlete Ilima Guseynova won the first victory in the final stage of the Asian Under-14 Championship in Bhubaneswar, India.

A pupil of the capital's tennis academy turned out to be stronger than an athlete from Vietnam. The match ended with a score of 6:4 6:2 in favor of Guseynova.

At the 1/8 finals stage, the Turkmen athlete will have to play against Eva Korysheva from Kazakhstan.

The Turkmen athlete is a member of the Central and West Asian team, where she was selected following the results of the regional qualification tournament in Bahrain held in January this year.

According to the results of the qualifying stage of the Central and West Asian Championships, Guseynova scored the required number of points, having received an invitation from the International Tennis Federation (ITF) to perform in the final part of the competition.

In addition to the Central and West Asian national teams, athletes from Kazakhstan, Indonesia, India, Iran, Hong Kong, the Republic of Korea, Kuwait, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Syria, Thailand, Vietnam, as well as teams from South, Southeast and East Asia will take part in the Asian Under-14 Championship.

The championship, which started on April 4, consists of two consecutive tournaments. According to the regulations, athletes will perform in singles and doubles. The Continental Championship will end on April 14.
