16 Russian theaters abroad will take part in the Big Tour program in 2023. Among them will be creative teams from South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. State Secretary, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Alla Manilova announced this on Friday at a plenary session dedicated to the opening of the International Festival of Russian Theaters “Meetings in Russia. 25 years together." The forum takes place on April 7-8 in St. Petersburg at the Baltic House Theatre.

According to TASS, within the framework of the festival, the fourth international conference "Russian Theater Abroad as an Institute of Russian Culture" was held, which brought together directors, art directors and chief directors of Russian theaters from Abkhazia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

The Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation considers the Big Tour project to be the best tool for integrating foreign Russian theaters into the Russian theater environment. “In 2022, in a single tour and concert plan, we had tours of creative teams from 6 countries - South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan. This year, 2023, not 11, but 16 Russian theaters from foreign countries will participate in the Big Tour program - from South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan," Manilova said.

"Big Tours" is a federal program for theaters that allows them to tour outside their region. The project is supervised by the Federal Center for Support of Touring Activities and includes two large-scale all-Russian programs - "Big Tours" (tours of theaters) and "We are Russia" (tours of national groups).
