The Head of the Republic of Tatarstan met with the leadership of Turkmenistan in Ashgabat
As part of a one-day working visit to Ashgabat, the rais of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, Rustam Minnikhanov met with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the press service of the rais reports.
Issues of expanding bilateral cooperation were discussed at the meeting with the President of Turkmenistan. Minnikhanov invited the country's delegation to take part in the international economic forum "Russia — the Islamic World: KazanForum", which will be held on May 18-19.
"Cooperation with the Islamic world has always been one of the leading directions of Tatarstan's foreign economic and international activities," said Minnikhanov.
During the meeting with the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, priority areas of cooperation were discussed, including in the field of oil exploration, gas transportation, energy, etc.
The interlocutors noted the importance of developing cultural ties, as well as cooperation in the field of tourism and education. At the same time, it was noted that Turkmenistan ranks first in the number of foreign students in Tatarstan, of which there are currently 6218 people.
After the conversation, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Rustam Minnikhanov together visited the exhibition of the trade complex of Turkmenistan, which is being held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan.
