In the Batken region of Kyrgyzstan, the Aygul-Too Botanical Reserve will be closed for three years to preserve the rare Aygul flower.

The protected area will be closed to tourists from April 1, 2023 to April 1, 2026. Such measures are taken to preserve the unique flower.

The endemic plant grows on the slopes of only one mountain — Aigul-Tash, which is located about 17 kilometers from Batken. A rare plant opens 7-8 years after germination of seeds.

Earlier, the Kyrgyz authorities proposed to assign the reserve the status of a specially protected area, transferring it from the category of agricultural land. The area of the reserve is 253.9 hectares.

In 1978, Edward's Grouse (the scientific name of Aygul) was listed in the Red Book of the USSR, and in 2004 — Kyrgyzstan.
