UN officials highly appreciated Turkmenistan's efforts to ensure peace and security
During her visit to New York, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova held meetings with high-ranking UN officials, the website of the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the UN reports.
In particular, negotiations were held with the Assistant Secretary-General for Europe, Central Asia and America, Acting Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Central Asia Miroslav Jenča, as well as the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, Executive Director of the Counter-Terrorism Executive Directorate Natalia German.
German highly appreciated Turkmenistan's commitment to regional peace and security, as well as the country's contribution to strengthening active cooperation with UN counter-terrorism units. In turn, Myahri Byashimova expressed Turkmenistan's readiness to continue close cooperation with the UN to solve urgent transnational problems.
Turkmenistan's efforts and leadership in promoting regional stability were also noted at the meeting with Miroslav Jenča. In particular, the high-ranking UN representative stressed the organization by the country of a high-level debate of the UN General Assembly on the Zone of Peace, Trust and Cooperation in Central Asia, as well as the creation of a Youth Dialogue in Central Asia.
The sides also discussed the development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the RCPDCA in strengthening peace and security in Central Asia, as well as preventive diplomacy mechanisms in the region.
