Rossotrudnichestvo and the relevant Turkmen agency requested an increase in quotas for budget places in institutions of secondary vocational and higher education of the Russian Federation for citizens of Turkmenistan. This was announced by the first secretary of the Russian Embassy in Ashgabat Yulia Zaitseva, reports TASS on Thursday.

The Russian authorities have allocated a quota of 250 budget places for Turkmenistan for the upcoming academic year, while the number of applications submitted exceeded 2,000, Zaitseva said.

"We have requested an increase in quotas to 500 for this year. The Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan has addressed the same proposal to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation," she explained.

Applicants will have to pass tests in a remote format and pass interviews, based on the results of this, a rating will be formed, on the basis of which they will decide on enrollment in Russian universities.

Earlier, last week, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko Chernyshenko said that the training of foreign students in Russia strengthens humanitarian ties and ensures the export of Russian technologies to other countries. He said this during a visit to Ulyanovsk State University, where he got acquainted with the developments of students, including from Turkmenistan, who presented their projects within the framework of the digital accelerator of the educational program "Games of the Future".
