The Majilis of Kazakhstan approved the appointment of Alikhan Smailov as Prime Minister


The Majilis (lower house of Parliament) of Kazakhstan has approved the candidacy of Alikhan Smailov for the post of Prime Minister of the country.
Of the 97 deputies who took part in the vote, 82 deputies voted for Smailov's candidacy, seven opposed, and eight more abstained.
Following this, a decree on the appointment of Smailov to the post appeared on the official website of the President of the country.
Earlier, Tokayev spoke at the plenary session of the Majilis about the candidacy of Alikhan Smailov for the post of prime Minister.
"The Amanat Party has proposed a candidate, we have come to a common denominator. I propose Alikhan Smailov for the post of Prime Minister. You all know him, a very professional, experienced specialist, a very hardworking person. I think he knows the tasks set for the government very well, so I think he can be entrusted with the post of Prime Minister," the Head of Kazakhstan said.
On March 19, elections of deputies of the lower house of parliament were held in Kazakhstan. After that, the government of Kazakhstan, which was headed by Alikhan Smailov since January last year, resigned.
