Turkmen-Uzbek film about the life of Makhtumkuli to be shot by filmmakers of two countries
Films dedicated to the life and work of the poet Magtymguly Fragi will be shot by Turkmen and Uzbek filmmakers. An agreement on this was reached during a meeting between Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan, Yazguly Mamedov, and Deputy Director General of the Uzbek Film Agency, Shukhrat Rizaev, held in Tashkent on March 29.
The joint creative project will be timed to coincide with the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the philosopher and poet Magtymguly in 2024. The future documentary and feature film will tell about the early years of Fraga and the times when he lived and studied in Uzbek Khiva and Bukhara. Details of filming and working moments, as well as casting of actors, filmmakers will discuss further.
The Uzbek side also extended an invitation to the film studio "Turkmenfilm" to take part in the Tashkent International Film Festival "Pearl of the Silk Road", which annually gathers the best filmmakers, actors and directors from all over the world in September. This year, the Days of Turkmen Cinema will be held as part of the film forum.
Recall that in 2022, at the Tashkent Film Festival, the Turkmen film studio presented three feature films - “At-Myrat” directed by Vepa Ishankuliev, “Gyzyl kurte” by Sahysalih Bayramov and “Istyarin” by Arslan Eyeberdiyev. By the way, the latest film, which was released last year, also tells about the important stages of Magtymguly's life.
