The "day of silence" before the parliamentary elections came in Turkmenistan


A "day of silence" has come in Turkmenistan on the eve of the next parliamentary elections to be held on March 26.
Since March 25, it is prohibited to conduct any propaganda work in support of certain political forces. However, propaganda printed materials, including leaflets, posters, previously placed outside election commissions, remain in their original places on the day of voting.
During the period of campaigning, all candidates were given equal opportunities to speak in the media. So, they had the right to free airtime on state TV channels and radio. The total daily amount of free airtime had to be at least one hour.
At the elections to the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, citizens of the country will have to elect 125 deputies. According to the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums, 258 candidates representing the Democratic Party, the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, and the Agrarian Party of Turkmenistan, as well as groups of citizens who can also nominate their candidates, have been registered in the country.
