Turkmen tourism companies are planning to develop new routes through protected areas to attract foreign tourists.

This became known at the international conference on the main directions and potential of tourism development in the country, held in Ashgabat, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper writes.

"The main task is to increase the number of tourists coming to our country. For its part, it is necessary to develop advertising of Turkmen cities, regions, monuments of material and intangible culture in a new focus. We have enough plans and projects for the development of Turkmen tourism. First of all, it is the development of new routes through protected areas," said Murad Ovezov, a representative of the Atlaz travel company.

The conference was attended by representatives of about a dozen countries.

CEO of one of the travel companies in Shanghai (China) Rong Zhen said that "the people of Shanghai would like to travel to Turkmenistan, they love the exotic, they love shopping, and there is something to see, something to buy."

According to the Deputy head of the Tourism Department of the Turkmen Ministry of Culture, the conference is primarily aimed at exchanging experience with foreign partners for the development of domestic tourism. At the moment, about 70 companies are involved in this industry in Turkmenistan.
