Turkey is moving at an accelerated pace towards becoming a gas hub, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at the opening of a boron carbide plant in the Bandyrma district of Balikesir province, Anadolu agency reports.

Erdogan noted that despite the delays associated with the work to eliminate the consequences of the February earthquakes, the Black Sea gas will soon begin to flow into the Turkish gas transportation system.

"We will not allow any obstacles to prevent Turkey from achieving the goals set for the 100th anniversary of the Republic," he said. The President also added that Turkey is preparing to enter the top ten countries in the world for generating electricity based on renewable energy sources.
