Turkmenistan is ready to consider the issue of gas supplies to Turkey today - Berdimuhamedov

Turkmenistan is ready today to consider the issue of supplying its gas to Turkey, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said, speaking at the summit of the Organization of Turkic States as a representative of the observer country and a member of the Council of Elders of the OTG.
If necessary, we will be able to lay a power transmission line in parallel with the gas pipeline, Berdimuhamedov added, confirming Turkmenistan's readiness to implement many large-scale joint projects.
He also expressed hope that during the next visit of the Turkmen president, Turkmenistan will be accepted into the OTG already as a member of this Organization.

Speaking about the theme of the summit - "Natural elements: emergency management and humanitarian assistance" - the head of the Halk Maslahaty cited the Turkmen proverb "Standing shoulder to shoulder – you will not fall." He recalled that the Turkish brothers were among the first to support the independence of Turkmenistan.
According to Berdimuhamedov, since 2000, with the participation of businessmen from Turkey, projects worth more than $ 110.3 billion have been implemented in Turkmenistan. Just the day before, the foundations of three medical facilities with a total cost of about $1.5 billion were laid in Ashgabat. They will be built by a Turkish company.
Noting that the OTG countries are located in seismic zones, Chairman Halk Maslahaty proposed to establish cooperation on basic issues of seismology, modern geodynamics and geophysics.

Touching upon cultural and humanitarian cooperation, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that next year the 300th anniversary of the poet and thinker Magtymguly be celebrated. TURKSOY also declared 2024 the Year of Magtymguly Pyragy, and the historical Turkmen city of Annau – the cultural capital of the Turkic world for the same year.
We hope to meet all of you in Turkmenistan not in the status of an observer country, but as a full member of the OTG, the head of the Halk Maslahaty said.
He also supported the nomination of Recep Tayyip Erdogan for the Nobel Peace Prize, noting that he has been closely acquainted with him for 22 years. The President of Turkey is an outstanding personality and a world-class politician, makes a great contribution to strengthening peace, security and sustainable development on a regional and global scale, mutual understanding and solidarity in international relations, and is worthy of this international award, Berdimuhamedov said.
