Kazakhstan will continue to provide assistance to Turkey and is ready to build a social facility in the area affected by the devastating earthquake, President of the Republic Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said at an extraordinary summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) on the topic "Disaster Management and Humanitarian Aid" in Ankara.

"As they say, 'a burden lifted together is light’. We are ready to continue providing assistance to fraternal Turkey. The Kazakh side is ready to build a social facility in the disaster zone," his press service quoted the head of state as saying.

Tokayev believes that the tragedy of Turkey, which suffered from a devastating earthquake, is the tragedy of all Turkic peoples.

"The people of Kazakhstan immediately extended a helping hand to their Turkish brothers. Rescuers and doctors were promptly sent. The most experienced, qualified specialists equipped with the necessary equipment were involved in search and rescue operations. Humanitarian and financial assistance was provided to the fraternal country," he stressed.

The President noted that many volunteers from Kazakhstan responded, came to Turkey and worked tirelessly. "The active participation of volunteers is an extremely important matter. Therefore, I invite all representatives of the OTS countries to participate in the volunteer forum, which will be held this year in Astana," the head of state added.

Earthquakes of magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 occurred on February 6 with an interval of nine hours in the province of Kahramanmaras in southeastern Turkey. The death toll exceeded 49 thousand, wounded more than 115 thousand.
