The World Customs Organization held a workshop on emergency situations for members in the European region


A representative of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan took part in a seminar held by the World Customs Organization (WCO) for the European region on the exchange of best practices in ensuring business continuity and improving emergency preparedness.
The event took place last week in Skopje, North Macedonia. with the personal participation of the WCO Secretary General Kunio Mikuria.
The course is provided by the "COVID-19 Project" of the WCO and is aimed at familiarizing participants with the international legal principles of assistance in emergency situations and natural disasters, as well as tools and regulations developed by the Organization in this area.
Each of the participants of the seminar spoke about the measures that are taken by national customs authorities in case of emergencies in their countries. The representative of Turkey made a report on simplified customs procedures introduced after the February 2023 earthquakes and during the COVID-19 pandemic.
