A delegation from Turkmenistan took part in a regional conference on "Harnessing the potential of e-commerce in Central Asia", which was held in Dubai.

The three-day event, organized by the Ready4Trade Central Asia project of the International Trade Center, brought together officials and business representatives from Central Asian countries to discuss ways to expand regional cooperation in the field of electronic commerce, explore potential areas of interaction between the public and private sectors.

At the meeting, the Artisan Empowerment Hub NOVICA online platform was launched, which provides artisans in Central Asia with new virtual sales channels and allows them to sell goods to customers around the world.

During the trip to Dubai, the participants also got acquainted with the activities of local order fulfillment centers, where they studied best practices for improving e-commerce using the example of the UAE.

At the conference, the Ambassador of the European Union to the UAE, Andrea Matteo Fontana, noted that e-commerce is a powerful engine for expanding trade and economic growth. It promotes the development of a competitive private sector and the creation of a healthy and open investment environment. In this regard, this project, funded by the EU, contributes to the simplification and harmonization of customs procedures, as well as the development of cross-border electronic commerce.

The UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, expressed at the meeting his readiness to assist the Central Asian countries in their efforts to develop the e-commerce sector.

The e-commerce industry in Central Asia is developing rapidly. According to the analytical company IMARC Group, in 2022 the volume of the e-commerce market in Central Asia reached $ 8 billion. The cumulative annual growth rate of e-commerce is expected to be 25.4% over the next five years.
