Turkmenistan and Iran spoke in favor of joining efforts in combating desertification
Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and Chairman of the Environmental Protection Organization of Iran Ali Salajege spoke about the need to consolidate efforts in the fight against climate change, in particular, desertification and sandstorms.
In addition, water issues were discussed, the website of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reports.
Meredov and Salajege met within the framework of the conference "Partnership in the field of food security in the context of climate change", held on March 9-10 in Ashgabat. The Chairman of the main environmental structure of the IRI headed the Iranian delegation.
In addition to the issues on the conference agenda, the parties touched upon bilateral cooperation between states. We are talking about trade, economy, energy, logistics and transport.
Noting the high level of Turkmen-Iranian cooperation and the trust-based dialogue between the heads of the two states, the representatives stressed the importance of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation.
