The representative of Turkmenistan took part in the 22nd meeting of the Council of Heads of Financial Intelligence Units of the CIS member states, the website of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth reports. The country was represented as an observer.

The meeting participants discussed the process of creating an International Center for Risk Assessment of the Legalization (Laundering) of Proceeds from Crime and the financing of terrorism. In particular, we considered the issue of the information content of the center.

It should be noted that the draft Agreement on the establishment of the Center was approved at the end of January this year at a meeting of the CIS expert group. Currently, the document is being agreed within the States.

Representatives of the Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism (EGCMLFT) and the International Educational and Methodological Center for Financial Monitoring were also invited to the meeting, which was held in a hybrid format.

The members of the delegations were informed about the upcoming joint event of the members of the International Compliance Council of the EGCMLFT and the supervisory authorities. It will examine the existing risks of money laundering and terrorist financing, identify mechanisms to reduce them. This, in turn, will coordinate the efforts of the public and private sectors with the EGCMLFT observers.

The Eurasian Group on Countering the Legalization of Criminal Proceeds and the Financing of Terrorism (EGCMLFT) includes nine states: Belarus, India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. It is a FATF–type regional body - the Intergovernmental Commission on Financial Monitoring.
