Turkmen weightlifters will compete for the Olympic berth to the Grand Prix in Peru

This week, dozens of the world’s best weightlifters will compete in one of the most exciting weightlifting events of the year: the IWF Grand Prix, which takes place in Lima, Peru on November 8-10. According to Tamás Aján, President of the IWF, 99 male and female athletes in all will compete in different weight categories. Winning the Grand Prix will allow weightlifters to get a quota to participate in the Olympic Games in Tokyo, 2020. Turkmen athlete Yulduz Jumabaeva is declared in the women’s weight category of 49 kilograms, which is expected to be one of the hottest. She is the medalist at the 2018 World Championships, held in Ashgabat. In the weight category of 81 kilograms among men, Turkmenistan will be represented by Rejepbai Rejepov, one of the strongest weightlifters in the country. In 2017, he won the gold medal at the 5th Asian Indoor Games in Ashgabat. In the same year he received the title of silver medalist of the Asian Home Championship and the World Championship in Anaheim (USA).
