Under the XIII International Book Fair and exhibition, held recently in Ashgabat, the State Art Academy of Turkmenistan hosted a creative meeting between the students and artist Olga Bogomolova, a teacher of the Moscow Institute of Graphics and Book Art named after Vladimir Favorsky. Today, graphic art is used not only in book publishing, but also in the design of the interior, ornament, and paintings. Modern graphic artists create relevant illustrations, advertising posters; develop the design of printing products. Institute of Graphics and Book Art named after Vladimir Favorsky, where Olga Prokofiyevna works as a teacher, is a branch of the Higher School of Printing at the Moscow Polytechnic. The future graphic artists and designers in the field of multimedia, illustration, art design and design of printed and electronic products are trained here. During the meeting, Olga Bogomolova told Turkmen students about the activity of the institute and invited those who wish to continue their education at the MA course of the Higher School of Printing and Media Industry. “About 250 students from Turkmenistan study at different faculties of our university. It is both your and our pride,” Olga Bogomolova says. “In addition to the illustration department, which I represent, there is a department on technical processing at the institute. Sometimes, like a good artist, it is not easy task to find a professional technologist or print worker. Therefore, at the institute, all the study processes are interconnected.” Graphic-students asked the teacher a number of interesting questions: what types of calligraphy are used for printing now? What methods are more convenient to work with digital technology? “Indeed, students who study at the design department, while developing projects, work with a computer more, while those from the graphics department are mostly draw. There is a preponderance of graphics in the direction of drawing, while designers – in the direction of computer technology,” the teacher noted. At the end of the meeting, Olga Bogomolova presented the Museum of the Academy a catalog booklet with the creative work of graduates of the Moscow Institute of Graphics and Book Art. In turn, Turkmen students presented as a gift a portrait of the guest made by one of the students. In addition, as a memory about Turkmenistan, Olga Bogomolova was awarded with the book of the President of Turkmenistan “Turkmen Alabay”. “Thank you very much; the cover of this book delighted me very much. Yesterday, at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, I saw a puppy of the magnificent Alabay breed, they are incredible lovely dogs. Having been in Ashgabat for the first time, I can say that I really liked it.”
