The Government of Turkmenistan has allocated $80 million for projects with UNDP.


Earlier this week, the Government of Turkmenistan and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) signed a number of strategic documents aimed at strengthening long-term partnership in the implementation of national development priorities.
In particular, UNDP and Turkmenistan have launched several new joint projects in the field of healthcare, digital transformation, human rights and trade totaling more than $80 million, fully funded by the Government of the country.
Among them is a project to promote the introduction of a pilot system of interdepartmental electronic information exchange, which will be implemented jointly with the Agency "Turkmensvyaz".

Two more projects will be implemented with the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry.
One of them is aimed at strengthening the clinical and laboratory service in Turkmenistan, the second is to provide medicines necessary for the prevention and treatment of non-communicable diseases and the protection of maternal and child health in Turkmenistan. Both are designed for the period 2023-2024.

"Strengthening the trade potential of Turkmenistan. Phase II" is the name of a joint project with the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations. And the project in the legal sphere is aimed at strengthening the institutional capacity of the Office of the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan.
In addition, the Government of Turkmenistan and UNDP have agreed on a program action plan for 2023 within the framework of a number of ongoing projects in the field of environmental protection and climate change, as well as expanding employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

These are three joint projects with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection: "Sustainable Cities in Turkmenistan: Integrated development of green cities in Ashgabat and Avaza", "Conservation and sustainable management of land resources and natural Ecosystems of the Aral Sea Basin", funded by the Global Environment Facility, and "Development of the national adaptation planning process in Turkmenistan", funded by the Green Climate Fund.
The project will be implemented jointly with the Society of the Blind and Deaf of Turkmenistan with the financial support of the Fund for Global Development and Cooperation "South-South": "Affordable work for persons with disabilities in Turkmenistan: Transformation of social enterprises for educational opportunities and decent work".
