The UN Security Council, the World Health Organization, the World Trade Organization and the international financial institutions need massive reforms, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said at a meeting of G20 foreign ministers on Thursday in New Delhi.

The head of Turkish diplomacy began his speech with words of gratitude to the countries that provided assistance to Turkey against the backdrop of the devastating earthquakes on February 6.

Referring to Ankara's foreign policy, Cavusoglu noted that Turkey's position is to "strengthen multipolarity and reform international structures", including the WHO, WTO and financial institutions.

"We are going through an era of rapid transformations. In the current situation, it is important to critically analyze the international system and the role of international organizations," Cavusoglu said, quoted by Anadolu news agency.

The head of the Turkish Foreign Ministry believes that effective multipolarity and a rule-based system are two fundamental concepts.

"The body is as healthy as the heart is healthy. And the heart of our international system is the UN," the Turkish minister stressed, adding that any multilateral efforts without UN reform would be insufficient.

The Turkish Foreign Minister pointed out the importance of implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and supporting the least developed countries in order to achieve sustainable development. According to the minister, the implementation of the Agenda requires spending at the level of up to $4 trillion.
