Roots: in Ashgabat there will be held the exhibition of an original wood carver


Next week in the Ashgabat exhibition centre of the Union of Artists of Turkmenistan expositions of works of Yomutbai Khalbayev «Interesting forms of nature» will open.
Wooden sculptures of the original artist from Turkmen remote places will be presented to the general public: birds, snakes and other inhabitants of desert, mountains and river valleys, recreated from wood roots.
Apricot, mulberry, oak roots are "fully processed" in the art studio. When the natural form is brought to a certain condition, and from a recent snag there appear a figure of this or that animal, a wooden sculpture is varnished.
For one and a half year of work with roots the artist has saved considerable quantity of hand-made articles - about 100 copies. They will be also displayed at the forthcoming exhibition.
- I am fond of hand-made wooden articles casually, - tells Yomutbai. – I found a clumsy branch and thought, to what it can be similar? Here the played imagination cast set of images of fauna. I tried to make a bird, and I could do it, therefore I have decided to continue.
Yomutbai Khalbayev, a professional caricaturist and member of the Union of Artists of Turkmenistan, lives and works in Dashoguz region. Having finished the art school named after Shota Rustaveli in Ashgabat, he returned to his native land to train young admirers of painting in art.
The master promises to arrive in Ashgabat for the opening of the exhibition, therefore visitors will have a fine possibility to get acquainted with him personally.
The exposition’s opening will take place on November 5 at 16:00, entrance to the exhibition hall is free.
