Turkmenistan and Iran discuss establishing joint border control

The head of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan Maksat Hudaykulyev discussed with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Razvanifar the establishment of joint border control, Mehr news reports.
During the past two rounds of negotiations, the sides discussed the expansion of trade at four border points, the removal of trade barriers and the expansion of border markets. Negotiations between officials on this topic are continuing.
Based on the results of the meetings, it is planned to draft a memorandum on the exchange of experience, holding regular and joint meetings between the customs services of the two countries.
Joint border control gives the border States the opportunity to ensure more efficient and faster passage of goods and passengers at the borders, contributing to the increase in trade turnover.
