Elon Musk has approached artificial intelligence researchers with a proposal to create a new laboratory to create an alternative to OpenAI's Chat GPT, Reuters reports.

The owner of Tesla and Twitter hired a former employee of Alphabet, artificial intelligence researcher Igor Babushkin. They are working together to form a new team to develop their own bot with artificial intelligence.

Musk, along with Silicon Valley investor Sam Altman, co-founded OpenAI in 2015, but left the startup in 2018. After the release of Chat GPT, Elon Musk called it "awfully good."
