A group of climbers from Turkey will climb the highest mountain in central Anatolia, Erciyes, in memory of those who died as a result of devastating earthquakes in the south and southeast of the country, Anadolu agency reports, citing Ismail Yilmaz, a representative of the Kayseri province Mountaineering Department.
This is the 13th such expedition, which is scheduled for March 11-12. It is expected that the campaign will gather about a hundred people.
Initially, the ascent was scheduled for February 11-12, but the dates shifted due to earthquakes.
According to Yilmaz, many climbers voluntarily went to the areas affected by the earthquake to participate in search and rescue operations.
