The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held talks with his Kazakh counterpart in Astana


Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held talks with Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tleuberdi. The talks were held on Monday in Astana, on the eve of the upcoming ministerial meeting of the heads of foreign affairs agencies of the Central Asian countries and the United States in the C5 + 1 format.
Diplomats in a traditionally friendly and constructive manner discussed the prospects for further development of bilateral cooperation, including in the areas of trade, transport, logistics and energy. Particular attention was paid to the implementation of the agreements reached at the highest and high levels, aimed at comprehensively strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
There was also an exchange of views on topical issues of the regional and international agenda. Interest was expressed in further strengthening cooperation in the international arena, the press service of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry said.
Earlier it was reported that US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will take part in the C5 + 1 ministerial meeting, and will also hold talks with representatives of the governments of the countries of the region, after which he will leave for Uzbekistan.
At a recent briefing at the US State Department, Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu, speaking to reporters about Blinken's upcoming trip, noted that this was his first trip to Central Asia as Secretary of State.
“This is the fourth time the Secretary of State has met with Foreign Ministers… C5+1…. And no secretary before Secretary of State Blinken interacted so intensively with this regional group,” Lu said.
