Turkmen carpet is the most expensive lot at the Vienna auction
Austria Auction Company specialized carpet auction "Fine Antique Oriental Rugs XXXII" will take place on March 18, 2023. This auction features a wide selection of beautiful antique Turkmen, Caucasian, Anatolian, Persian, Central Asian, Chinese, East Turkestan, Tibetan carpets, etc.
Among the 200 lots, the main and most expensive is a Turkmen carpet of the first half of the 19th century measuring 320 x 180 cm. Its approximate cost is estimated by experts at 40-60 thousand euros. For comparison, the closest Turkish carpet of the 17th century costs 30-40 thousand euros.
Before the auction itself, a preview will take place at the Palais Breuner in Vienna from Wednesday, March 15th to Friday, March 17th from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm and on the day of the auction, Saturday, March 18th from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm: 00.
Turkmen carpets often become one of the main lots at the Fine Antique Oriental Rugs Vienna auction and other carpet auctions. So, on the same day as its next edition, on March 18, a German online auction will be held from the house of Rippon Boswell (Wiesbaden), where among 222 antique carpets there will be a Turkmen ensi of the middle of the 19th century worth 2,500 euros.
