USAID has launched the first DigiWomen Camp program in Turkmenistan for girls in the IT field
On February 23, the USAID Project for the Development of Entrepreneurship and the Business Environment in Turkmenistan launched the first DigiWomen Camp program in Turkmenistan, which aims to create new employment opportunities for girls and women in the field of information and communication technologies.
The four-month program will provide more than 100 girls and women with a unique opportunity to master programming skills in the field of web development, mobile application development, backend development in Python and IT product design. Participants from Turkmenabat, Mary, Dashoguz, Ashgabat and Ahal region will be taught these skills as part of the "IT Academy" stage, which will last until the end of spring.
Women will also be offered to master business skills through specially provided online free HP LIFE training modules from the world-famous Hewlett Packard company. This series of 32 training modules will include such topics as "Business Communications", "How to start a small business", "Design Thinking", "Fundamentals of Finance" and many others.
Since one of the tasks of the DigiWomen Camp program is to find new employment opportunities for women, participants will be offered special classes from an international expert in providing freelance services in the IT field.
The participants will also be able to choose the way to create their own business through the development of an IT product. A hackathon, i.e. a team competition of IT startup projects between DigiWomen Camp participants, will serve as an incentive on this path.
The most successful startup entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to further "pump up" their business through participation in an international acceleration program from another well-known global company Plug and Play.
Opening a four-month "camp" in a hybrid format from Turkmenabad, the representative of the US Agency for International Development in Turkmenistan, Nino Nadiradze, called on all selected participants of the program to believe in their capabilities and move without hesitation to implement their boldest plans, including plans to receive their first freelance order or launch their IT business in a year four months.
The program is organized by the USAID Project for the Development of Entrepreneurship and the Business Environment in Turkmenistan in cooperation with the US Embassy in Ashgabat, the HP representative office in Kazakhstan and the Sanly Bilim Educational Center.
