In accordance with the current legislation, meetings of committees of political parties and citizens' groups on nomination of candidates were held in electoral districts. The participants of the meeting got acquainted with the career path of the candidates and their views on the future directions of the democratic development of our state and society, and supported their candidacy by thoroughly discussing their business and personal qualities. Worthy representatives of the people, who enjoy the respect and dignity of our citizens are competing for the right to be a deputy of the parliament, a representative of local government bodies, as well as local self-government bodies.
On February 28, the list of candidates will be published in the media after the registration process in the respective election groups is completed. All candidates and their representatives will be given equal opportunities to campaign, meet with their constituents, including at pre-election meetings, consultations, and it will be in the media. During the meetings, the voters will be fully acquainted with the programs of the candidates before the elections.
The elections to be held on March 26 are aimed at showing our people's commitment to the far-reaching democratic reforms initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Hero Arkadag, and successfully implemented under the leadership of the esteemed President of Turkmenistan. National observers and specially invited representatives of various international bodies will monitor the activities before the elections. To date, about three thousand observers from the Democratic Party, the Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Party, the Agrarian Party, and public organizations have been received. They were issued with certified copy of identity cards.
Representatives from the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Organization of Turkic States expressed interest in participating in the elections as observers. Representatives from the United Nations, the Bureau of Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, and foreign mass media are also expected to arrive.
Training sessions were held for local observers to introduce them to the changes in the national election law, their duties, and the procedure for conducting elections. Similar training sessions were also organized for etrap, city and district election committee members. Organizational work in preparation for the upcoming elections continues.
