LeBron James sets NBA scoring record


American forward “Los Angeles Lakers” LeBron James became the champion of the National Basketball Association (NBA) in the number of points scored in his career.
In a 130-133 win against the Oklahoma City Thunder, James surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's career mark of 38,388 points.
Abdul-Jabbar's record has stood since April 5, 1984. The legendary center retired in 1989 with 38,387 points. The six-time NBA champion was also in attendance today.
The top five scorers in league history also include Karl Malone (36,928), Kobe Bryant (33,643) and Michael Jordan (32,292).
LeBron James is 38 years old and a four-time NBA champion. The American was recognized four times as the best player of the regular season and the most valuable basketball player in the final series of the playoffs.
As part of the US national team, the forward twice became the Olympic champion (2008, 2012) and won the bronze medal of the Olympics (2004).
