Russia will return to the traditional system of higher education

Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed to return to the traditional system of training specialists with higher education. The duration of their studies at the university will be from 4 to 6 years. He stated this during his address to the Federal Assembly, TASS reports.
According to him, the new education system should be a synthesis of the best practices of the Soviet system and the last decades, and the transition to it should be smooth and thought out to the smallest detail.
"Young people, our citizens should have new opportunities for quality education, employment, professional growth. I repeat once again: opportunities, not problems," Putin stressed.
Continuing the topic of higher education, he noted that within the framework of one specialty and one university, different training programs can be offered depending on a particular profession, industry and labor market demands. If the profession requires a narrow specialization or additional training, the student should have the opportunity to continue his education in a master's degree or residency. He also proposed to allocate a postgraduate course to a separate level of professional education, which trains personnel for teaching and scientific activities.
Vladimir Putin noted that diplomas of higher education under the current bachelor's and master's degree programs, which have already been received by university graduates, are not subject to revision, and students who are studying now will be able to continue their studies under the current educational programs.
Putin instructed the All-Russian Popular Front to take control of all changes in higher education.
