During the visit of experts from the WHO Regional Office for Europe, Turkmen specialists conducted joint genome-wide sequencing of 10 samples of influenza A virus. Information on sequenced influenza viruses was uploaded to the global GISAID platform (Global Initiative on Sharing Avian Influenza Data), which provides access to virus genomes.
Turkmen doctors got acquainted with the use of the Next-Generation sequencing method on the Ion Torrent platform for the genetic characterization of influenza viruses.
