The national tennis team of Turkmenistan won bronze medals at the World Junior Under-14 Championship for Asia and Oceania region - 2023 World Junior Tennis Competition held in Sri Lanka.

In the semifinals of the tournament, the youth team consisting of Selim Chagylov and Imran Akhundov were defeated by Singapore with a score of 2:1. However, in the match for the third against the hosts of the championship, the Turkmen team won (2:1).

A similar outcome of events awaited the women's team from Turkmenistan. Ilima Huseynova and Natalia Martynova stopped a step away from the final, losing to the Indonesian national team - 2:1. The bronze medal match took place against the girls from Malaysia, where the Turkmen duo prevailed with a score of 2:1.

It is worth noting that the bronze medals won at the championship in Sri Lanka are a historic result for Turkmen tennis.

The captain of the men's national team during the tournament was the master of sports of Turkmenistan, the judge of the national category Andrey Dovmatov. The women's team was headed by the Honored Master of Sports, the first racket of Turkmenistan Yuri Rogussky. Igor Zubkov represented our delegation in Sri Lanka.

The World Junior Tennis Competition was held from February 11 to 18 in Colombo (Sri Lanka). The best tennis players from 15 countries took part in this stage - Bangladesh, Turkmenistan, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Nepal, Cambodia, Mongolia, Yemen, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Macau, Saudi Arabia and the Pacific Oceania team.
