An astronaut from the UAE will celebrate Ramadan in space
An astronaut from the UAE, Sultan Al Neyadi, will celebrate Ramadan – the month of obligatory fasting for Muslims – in space.
His launch to the International Space Station, along with three other astronauts, is scheduled for February 26. This will be the first long-term Arab mission into space.
Answering journalists' questions about how he plans to celebrate Ramadan in space, Neyadi said he would take dates with him on board and share them with other crew members.
Sultan Al Neyadi will become the fourth representative of the UAE in space after Hazzaa Al Mansouri, who entered orbit in 2019.
"We are ready physically, mentally and technically for this mission. I hope that we will return with new knowledge, which we will share with others," the cosmonaut said during a press conference.
