Turkmen volunteers exchanged experience with like-minded people from Central Asia


30 volunteers from Turkmenistan took part in an online volunteer forum, the website of the UN mission in Turkmenistan reports.
The participants discussed the role of volunteers in society, the specifics of their activities, as well as the qualities that a volunteer should possess. In turn, activists from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan became familiar with the development of the volunteer movement in their countries. In this regard, it was noted the need to establish cooperation between volunteer organizations of the states of the region to acquire new knowledge and skills in the field of volunteerism.
The Forum was the launch event of the Volunteers Academy project, which is aimed at developing the volunteer movement as an effective tool for civic and patriotic education, creating a mechanism for promoting and popularizing the practice of volunteerism in society. He provided a platform for communication with like-minded people in order to achieve positive results in solving social issues.
The "Volunteers Academy" is implemented by the public organization "Yenme" within the framework of the "Strengthening youth potential through participation in society" project. It is being implemented by the representative office of the International Organization for Migration in Turkmenistan in partnership with the Eurasia Foundation (EF) within the framework of the Social Innovations in Central Asia (SICA) program with the financial support of the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
It is expected that by the end of the project, over 100 young people will get acquainted with volunteer activities, more than 50 young people will join the ranks of volunteers and will take an active part in the life of society.
